Miss Navajo Nation Crown History

The Miss Navajo Nation crown will reign for five years then another will be created for the next five years. The 2007-2011 Miss Navajo Nation crown was finished on August 30, 2007 by Tommy Lowe of Lukachukai, AZ. And is contracted to go into the Navajo Nation Museum after its fifth reign. The Navajo Nation Seal is located in the center of the crown illustrating our Dine lively hood. Around the Seal are our Four Sacred Mountains representing our Dine way of life and associated stones (white shell, turquoise, abalone shell, and black jet). There are seven clusters at the top of the crown representing the seven days of the week. The top cluster has five different stones (white shell, turquoise, abalone shell, black jet, and tiger eye). The Tiger Eye stone signifies our Mother Earth. Below this cluster is a cross representing of all faiths. The “Miss Navajo Nation” lettering is soldered with 14 gage sterling silver. Above the lettering on each side of the Navajo Nation seal are four flowers that symbolize all vegetation of our earth. Adjacent are two eagle feathers - male and female. Two fire pokers for protection – male and female. Two Horn Toads for protection - male and female. On the side of the crown are the stone colors red, white, and blue the right side is for Veterans and the left side is for Education.
